As we all know, Queensland is known for its warm weather, crystal-clear waters and the laid back lifestyle. Cassowary Coast, a region located in the tropical north of Queensland, is no different. It is a fantastic place to enjoy fun-filled events throughout the year! Here are just a few of the amazing seasonal events that you can't afford to miss.

Summer events:

1. Innisfail's Australian Banana Football Cup: Australian Banana Football Cup is the perfect way to kick-off your summer fun. The event is hosted every year on Australia Day (January 26) in partnership with Innisfail Football Club. It's a unique and hilarious soccer game played with a giant banana!

2. Tully Water Festival: This festival brings a lot of joy to the region, particularly in the summer season. The Tully Water Festival is an annual 4-day long celebration that takes place in late January. The festival is centered around the water and agriculture industry, with activities such as the Tully Cup (horse racing), golf tournament, live entertainment, and fireworks.

3. Cardwell UFO Festival: Hosted every year towards the end of January, the Cardwell UFO Festival is one of the most exciting summer events in the region. The event is made to commemorate the reported UFO sightings of the 1950s. The festival includes speakers, merchandise stalls, devonshire tea and even a visit from Kaptain Kazoo.

Autumn events:

1. Mission Beach Cultural Festival: Autumn in Cassowary Coast is the festival season, and Mission Beach Cultural Festival begins it all off. The festival is organized by the local Indigenous Traditional Owners and features five days of music, dance, workshops, markets, and cultural tours.

2. The Feast of the Three Saints: Also known as 'Festa', it is a traditional event held annually in the small town of Silkwood, usually in May. This event is celebrated to honor three saints and is a religious as well as cultural event. The feast includes rides for children, food galore, and live music.

3. Babinda Harvest Festival: This festival is held annually and celebrates the region's produce, particularly fruits such as the famous Babinda ginger and the avocado. The festival is held in late April or early May. The festival is a perfect opportunity to indulge in some local foods, including ginger and avocado ice cream.

Winter events:

1. Tully & Cardwell Art Festival: Organized in conjunction with Tully and Cardwell communities, the Tully & Cardwell Art Festival is an annual celebration of art, music, and culture. The event is held in winter and runs for eight days. The festival includes an art exhibition, live music, workshops, and street food.

2. Innisfail Rodeo: For thrill-seekers, the Innisfail Rodeo is not to be missed. This adrenaline-packed event features bull rides, barrel racing, and the rodeo clown. The rodeo takes place over a weekend in June and is a must-attend for those who love country-style events.

3. Sugar Industry Field Day: If you have an interest in the sugar industry, then Sugar Industry Field Day is the perfect winter event for you. It is held in August and is an opportunity to learn about the sugar industry in the region. The event is held in the sugar-growing centers of Tully and Innisfail and includes guided tours of sugar farms.

Spring events:

1. The Australian Festival of Chamber Music: This festival is held every August in Townsville, just a short drive away from Cassowary Coast. It is an opportunity to indulge in the beauty of chamber music from some of the world's best musicians.

2. Etty Bay Easter Funday: Etty Bay is a picturesque coastal village located between Innisfail and Mission Beach. Every year, the Etty Bay Easter Funday is celebrated. The event is family-friendly and includes a treasure hunt, Easter egg hunt, and a Jumping Castle.

3. Tully Show: The Tully Show is held annually in September and is a perfect example of a quintessential country show. The show includes the best agricultural displays, livestock, home baking, and entertainment.
